Jose Antonio Palomares, MD, is a dedicated pediatric pulmonologist and sleep medicine physician practicing at the Texas Pediatric Specialties and Family Sleep Center offices in Shevano Park, Lockhill-Selma, and New Braunfels, Texas. Originally from Los Angeles, he moved to San Antonio for residency. Two of his four children were born in Texas, and he now proudly calls San Antonio home.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in neuroscience from UCLA in 2013, contributing to published research on the neurologic effects of obstructive sleep apnea. He completed medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2019 and later returned to Los Angeles for a fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, becoming the first AIRE fellow to train in both pulmonology and sleep medicine.
Dr. Palomares has a strong interest in home mechanical ventilation and has researched how medical and social factors affect outcomes in these complex patients. He is a native Spanish speaker and is passionate about providing advanced care while empowering families through education and communication.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys road trips, fishing, and singing with his wife and four children. Together, they host a Spanish-language podcast, “2 Serán 1”, about family life. A lifelong soccer fan, he enjoys hosting match-day cookouts and perfecting his salsa recipes.
